At 03:50 hours this morning, HFD was dispatched through NORCON for a FAST Team on the 2nd alarm assignment to a heavily involved structure fire on Vassar St. in Wyckoff. WFD and other mutual aid 2nd alarm towns were working a 2 story dwelling with heavy fire extending throughout the 2nd floor and attic areas that had originated on the rear deck of the home. Shortly after Engine 731's arrival, Wyckoff Command Chief Murphy ordered an evacuation of all companies from the building and a defensive operation commenced to darken down the large volume of fire that was being fed by a broken gas line. Eventually, the HFD FAST Team was put to work on overhaul operations before being released at approx 0630 hours.
A fantastic job by the Wyckoff FD and mutual aid companies to bring this stubborn blaze under control in a relatively short period of time.
